Kenilworth Wardens to face bottom of the league Jaguar Daimler this weekend

Kenilworth Wardens will host their rescheduled fixture against Jaguar/Daimler this weekend, on the back of two wins from their last two games.

Wardens lined up against Jaguar in their opening fixture of the season (September 12), but the game had to be abandoned after a severe head injury was sustained by a Jag centre half.

Since then Wardens have won twice, drawn once, and lost once, leaving them fifth in the Coventry Alliance Division Two.

Jaguar/Daimler's season does not seem to have picked up from said head injury, as they have suffered three defeats from three so far this season. They now sit at the bottom of the league, already three points adrift of safety.

More worrying for this weekend's away side is that they have scored just twice this season. Jag finally scored their first goal of the season in their last match - a 5-2 defeat to Triumph Athletic.

In truth, Jag were actually fortunate to stay in the league last season, having registered just three wins from twelve. They were perhaps beneficiaries of the season being cut short, as well as an extra side being added to the league for the 2020/1 season.

Manager Eamonn Richards reflected on their previous meeting, "despite the game being abandoned, they looked a better side than their position suggests."

Wardens on the other hand will be boosted by the fact that they have won their past two games, 3-2 away at Christ the King, and 5-0 against Dunlop Reserves the week before.

The eight goals scored, and two conceded in two games is far more akin to the preseason form that had filled Richards with confidence going into this season.

"Following our back to back wins its really important that we don't get complacent and we play football the way we can play and want to play. If we continue to work hard, be organised and keep our concentration, our quality will get us a third win in a row.

"We are fortunate this week to have the same starting 11 available as last time and have found a side of 13 or 14 players who work well as a team together."

Ahead of tomorrow's game Guy Pearson has been named Player of The Month "for his three goals, two assists, commitment and work rate over the past four games."

In partnership with LPC Sports Therapy and Yoga, Pearson will receive a free sports massage for his achievement.

Should the Wardens take the three points this weekend, other fixtures could also see them shoot up the league. First-placed AFC Coventry (two points clear of Wardens) host fourth-placed Dunlop Reserves in what looks the most important fixture of the weekend.

Second-placed Triumph Athletic go to Shilton, and third-placed Coventry Colliery host Crick.
