Kenilworth Wardens firsts returned to competitive fixtures today, travelling to line up against Jaguar/Daimler

Wardens had enjoyed an unbeaten preseason, with wins over Balsall and Berkswell, Stockton Reserves, Bishop Itchington, and Triumph Athletic, as well as a featuring in a draw with Rugby Reserves.

Wardens have enjoyed continual promotions through the ranks since their return to the Coventry Alliance, finding themselves in Division Two this season.

However, their hopes of starting the season on the front foot were today halted.

Wardens' opener against Jag/Daimler was cut short with a serious head injury to Daimler's centre half.

Such was the severity of the incident, he was left requiring immediate medical attention.

The match was subsequently abandoned, and will be rescheduled for a later date.
