Kenilworth Wardens' first team travelled to play Dunlop Reserves yesterday to get their season underway.
The away side were due to kick start their season last week against Jaguar/Daimler, however the game had to be abandoned after a head injury was sustained by a Daimler player.
Dunlop Reserves won their first game of the season 4-2 against Crick Athletic last week.
Dunlop yet again conceded two goals this weekend, as they drew 2-2 with Kenilworth Wardens.
Despite Dunlop dominating possession, Wardens went 1-0 up after 10 minutes. Centre half Jamie Whitehouse played a long ball forward which was brought down and slammed home by Guy Pearson.
Dunlop continued to dominate possession, however Wardens doubled their lead.
Phil Rudd battled to win possession in the middle of the park, the ball fell to Eamonn Richards who played a clever ball into captain Sam Taylor in space 30 yards out. Taylor's defence-splitting pass put Dan Twigger through, for him to play the ball first-time under the Dunlop keeper.
2-0 to Wardens going into the break.
The second half continued in the same vain, with Dunlop retaining possession and Wardens trying to hit on the counter attack.
On 60 minutes the Dunlop left midfielder appeared to run the ball out of play, Wardens switched off for a moment thinking the throw would be given. Their lapse in concentration was long enough for Dunlop to hammer the ball home from 20 yards.
Five minutes later the game was even. Substitute Isaac Bloomer got caught on the ball on the edge of the box, allowing Dunlop's right midfielder to run through and smash the ball home.
In the last 10 minutes the game opened up, with Guy Pearson hitting the post after a brilliant lay off Ben Edmunds. Dunlop also had a good chance in the last couple of minutes, with Keeper Andy Whitehouse pulled off a brilliant one-handed save to ensure that the points were shared.
