Kenilworth Wardens' unbeaten start to life in the Coventry Alliance premier division was ended by a last-minute Lewis Ludford winner at Folly Lane.
Goals from Guy Pearson and Andy Legg had brought the visitors level in the second half but Ludlow's second volley of the game rescued the points for the hosts.
Speaking after the game Kenilworth manager Eamonn Richards said: "I'm absolutely gutted to lose in the last minute, after working so hard to get back into the game.
"Ironically I felt we were better in 60 minutes - between the first and last 15 - than we'd been in the first two games.
"Folly lane are a good side and it's always horrible to play away to them. There is a reason they are always at the top three or four teams in the prem.
"But we showed real character to bounce back from 2-0 down and if before the start of the season you told me we'd have six points from three games I'd have taken that with a smile.
"Jack Thomas continues to show how talented he is at 16 and how lucky we can help him develop."
Having started the better of the two sides it took Folly Lane just 15 minutes to open the scoring. A long ball forward was played towards captain Ludford who volleyed from an impossible angle into the top corner, leaving keeper Andy Whitehouse with no chance.
Ten minutes later the hosts doubled their lead when a dangerous cross was inadvertently headed into his own net by Matt Legg - his second own goal in four years.
Having gone two behind Wardens grew into the game, with Jack Thomas, Pearson and Andy Legg getting into dangerous areas but without testing the Folly Lane keeper.
Wardens continued to improve after half time and began to dominate the game.
On 55 minutes good build-up play between Roger Kingston and Richards played Thomas down the left channel, his pull back found Pearson who beat two men before curling into the top corner for his first goal of the season.
Wardens pressed for the equaliser and got their reward 15 minutes from time.
A fluid counter attack broke down, but a poor clearance fell to Thomas, who played in captain Andy Legg to stroke the ball under the keeper - Thomas' third assist in three games and Legg's second goal in two.
Wardens could have found a winner when Pearson's strike was cleared off the line after a brilliant cut back from Toby Wells.
But having already hit the cross bar in the closing exchanges Folly Lane found the crucial third goal.
With Wardens failing to clear the ball on three occasions the ball fell to Ludford who expertly replicated his first goal, volleying the ball into the top corner for Folly Lane's second win of the season.
