Cadbury Athletic dropped their first home points of the season to a resilient Kenilworth Sporting who extended their unbeaten run to 15 matches.

In a game of few chances both defences proved hard to break down, but when constant threats Harry Wilson and Kyle Jaynes did break through, the Cadbury keeper was on form to preserve his clean sheet.

With his side still looking to climb into the promotion places Sporting manager Martin Ascroft was still pleased with the point.

"If someone would have asked me 'would you take a point today', I would have easily said yes - Cadbury's are unbeaten all season and not dropped a point at home until today," he said.

"Cadbury's are a very well organised experienced team and you can see why they are unbeaten, they were by far the best team we have faced this season.

"So I'm delighted to keep our own unbeaten run going now to 15 games."

In the second half Kenilworth had a lot of possession and came closest through Joe Taylor's superb left footed free kick which ratted the Cadbury bar.

As the game progressed it was clear that it would take something special to break the deadlock.

Cadbury also struck the woodwork with a late header and Wilson went close with a free kick tipped wide on the final whistle, but neither team could find the back of the net.

"Our young squad is playing with confidence and we will continue to take one game at a time," Ascroft added.

"We have another tough test next Saturday when we face Coventry Alvis at home in what will be a typical local Derby game, that are always tough games."
