Here are the most read Kenilworth news stories so far, for 2026.
5. Kenilworth Chain Pub Closes
2026 has brought many stories of change along Warwick Road.
This included the news that the Bear and Ragged Staff closed in May.
The future of the building remains unclear as it sits empty, and owner Greene King is yet to provide any explanation on the closure.

4. Murderer arrested in Warwickshire after escaping prison
The start of the year brought the unusual news that a convicted Warwickshire murderer absconded from prison.
Matthew Armstrong, 35, was caught near Henley-in-Arden Railway Station by Warwickshire Police just before midday on 7 January following a sighting reported by a member of the public.
He went on the run on New Year's Day.
Fellow escapee of HMP Leyhill Daniel Washbourne, 40, was arrested at around 1.30am today by officers in Bristol city centre.

3. Dalehouse Lane Closes
Kenilworth locals knew Dalehouse Lane would close for 14 months for HS2 works, but were kept waiting for the official dates as the works were pushed back.
Then in February, Nub News broke the news that the busy road would close from Tuesday 7 April 2026 until Monday 7 June 2027.
The road is now closed, as the high speed rail developer works to remove the road and install the new bridge which the HS2 line will pass under.

2. Kenilworth Pub Closes and then Reopens
January brought the news that The Almanack would be closing as then owners Revel Collective went into administration.
The Abbey End pub then sat empty for a few months before it was brought back to life under the new ownership of Dhillons Brewery.
Since then, locals have flocked back, making the most of the new menu, wide array of drinks and specialty coffee.
Managing Director Dal Dhillon told Nub News: "I don't think I could have asked for a better first month of trading.
"We've had lots of positive feedback, and some constructive suggestions which we have taken on board.
"I think people are very happy that it's reopened, that's it's not just another shop on the high street that has closed.
"People are happy we have brought it back to its former glory."

1. Murder Suspects Charged
March brought the sad news that a man - Carl Stephens - was found dead at a home in Chestnut Avenue.
Since then, three people have been charged with his murder.
Two further people have been arrested on other offences relating to the incident.
