‘Storming first month’ for Kenilworth pub brought back to life under new owners
By James Smith 16th Jun 2026
The new owners of a popular Kenilworth pub have said their first month since reopening has been "absolutely storming".
The Almanack reopened at the start of May after a major makeover, now under the ownership of local hospitality company Dhillons Brewery.
Since then, locals have flocked to the Abbey End venue, making the most of the new menu, wide array of drinks and specialty coffee.
Managing Director Dal Dhillon told Nub News: "I don't think I could have asked for a better first month of trading.
"We've had lots of positive feedback, and some constructive suggestions which we have taken on board.
"I think people are very happy that it's reopened, that's it's not just another shop on the high street that has closed.
"People are happy we have brought it back to its former glory."
The Almanack briefly closed its doors in January 2026 after the previous owners went into administration.
Kenilworth local Dal then decided to take on the task of reopening the town centre venue, just weeks after Dhillons had opened its new food hall - Elle's - in Coventry.

The pub has since had a refresh inside and out, as well as new wine, food, and Sunday lunch menus.
"We've opened with a food menu which has been really, really positively received by the public," Dal continued.
"We've had great reviews, really, really good reviews - I think we've probably had a couple of hundred reviews.
"Our menu is quite British, modern, with a hint of European, to a very, very good standard thanks to our new chef.
"Everything is freshly cooked and locally-sourced where possible.
"We've even had the chef from The Cross come in and complement us.
"People have also told us they'd like some lighter lunch options, which we are hoping to bring in soon."
As well as serving Dhillons' popular range of beers, The Almanack's café offer thanks to Coventry-based Shortland Coffee Co has also proved a big hit.
The business has already started running events, and has more in store including a wine and cheese evening, a gin and vodka tasting night and sip and paint nights.

This as well as live music on Fridays and Saturdays.
"The music has gone down really well," Dal added.
"We're not putting out music which is really headbanging, loud, all that kind of stuff.
"It's very subtle background music and just blends in.
"We're trying to mix it up a little bit; we've got a pianist down here as well. We've got a singer.
"We want to have local people too, and help raise their profile as well."
The reopening of The Almanack is one of a number of recent additions to the town centre, with Dal saying he wants to see the hospitality boom in Kenilworth continue.
"It would make Kenilworth a real destination place for people.
"We want people coming here from Coventry, from Leamington, from Stratford and so on.
"Kenilworth could be a place to visit for dinner, for drinks; we want people to come and make an evening out of it."

And to anyone who is yet to visit the new-look Almanack, Dal continued: "I would say if they ever fell in love with the Almanack of old - because of the comfy chairs, something at the bar, or whatever it was, we have brought the best bits back to life.
"The Almanack is part of the best of Kenilworth, and we have given it another chance."
