HS2 has issued its winter update for all the upcoming works around Kenilworth.
Over the past few months HS2 has revealed plans for its tunnel in Burton Green as well as cuttings in Cubbington and Crackley.
The developer is also asking for feedback on its plans to expand the compound next the A46 at Stoneleigh and has started cutting the second tunnel at Long Itchington.
Residents have also been warned that works along Dalehouse Lane are expected to last longer than first predicted.
Upcoming work:
- Around Burton Green work will continue with the new clay batching plant.
- Continue utility diversion works on Cromwell Lane.
- Begin piling works on Cromwell Lane.
- Complete the crossing points on Waste Lane in Berkswell and Hob Lane and Red Lane in Burton Green.
- Open the Public Right of Way from Hodgetts Lane to Waste Lane.
- Begin constructing the Carol Green Rail Underbridge.
- Build the diaphragm walls to form part of the future Burton Green tunnel, including the north side of the diaphragm wall in December.
- Deliver preparatory works by the A46 Kenilworth Bypass in advance of completing the box jack structure at the end of 2023/24.
- Build the B4115 Ashow Road Overbridge and associated carriageway improvements.
HS2 also said there will be the "removal of the minimum number of trees and vegetation needed to safely build the railway and prepare sites for construction".
Compensation
This autumn Kenilworth's MP has called on the Minister of State for Rail and HS2 to urgently address issues around compensation for people impacted by the project.
Speaking in the House of Commons in November Sir Jeremy Wright called on Hew Merriman to make sure the government was meeting its promise to be fair to residents entitled to compensation.
"He will know that for those who find themselves in the path of this project, obtaining compensation is a painful and long drawn-out experience," he said.
"That is particularly true for those subject to compulsory purchase, where payments are delayed.
"Where they are delayed, there are very low rates of interest, and valuations are heavily contested.
"That is not meeting the promise that he referred to, that the government would be fair and that people would not be worse off as a result of this project."
