The new Mayor of Kenilworth celebrated her 'absolutely perfect' wedding at the end of May during a 'whirlwind' first month in office.

Having been elected on May 12, Cllr Sam Louden-Cooke married her fiancé Tom Louden-Cooke at Wootton Park on May 28 - all whilst juggling the town's jubilee celebrations and Naturewatch Week.

"A whirlwind is a bit of an understatement," she said.

"We managed to lock everyone in pretty early for the wedding, but that created a false illusion because everything was so spread out and well-paced that when it got to the last couple of months there was suddenly a lot to do!

"And I was also the lead on the jubilee street party and Kenilworth Naturewatch Week - both of which happened whilst I was away on honeymoon.

"But I did a solid handover beforehand and we got everything in place."

Despite the stress of the weeks before, Cllr Louden-Cooke said the wedding day was "absolutely perfect" and said she "couldn't pass up the opportunity" to get a photograph of herself in her wedding dress, with her mayoral chains.

"The weather was on our side, we managed to have an outdoor ceremony and it was perfect," she added.

"We had our honeymoon in Wales and again the weather was on our side which was amazing.

"Tom found the most picturesque little cottage and it was great."

Having attended her first event as mayor just days beforehand - the unveiling of a Covid-19 memorial outside Jubilee House - she is now starting her new life with a string of mayoral duties.

"This weekend I have two days with three events, and two more events later next week, which is great," she said.

"On Saturday it is the Grand Show, then the Two Castles Run, followed by a remembrance service in Leamington on Sunday, the Warwick Mayor Making on Tuesday and next Saturday I am attending 'A Royal Celebration Concert' at St. Nicholas Church.

"We will be joined by the new Mayor of Stratford and other nearby towns on Tuesday as well, so I am really looking forward to meeting them all."
