New homes for Warwickshire village proposed - but only for people with local connections

Locals have been given a chance to feed back on two sets of plans to build new homes in Wootton Wawen.
A consultation on two 29-house estates concluded last week, with both schemes expected to go to planning this summer.
The plans come as part of a scheme to build first homes for young families with connections to the village.
Deeley Homes is working towards plans to build a small estate off Alcester Road, near Wootton Wawen Primary School.
Meanwhile the second scheme - put forward by Piper Homes - could see 29 homes built on a meadow next to Keyte Gardens.
"We believe that this level of development can be comfortably accommodated on the site," Piper wrote in its consultation statement, "resulting in a spacious layout with a maximum density of around 14 dwellings per acre within the developed part of the site only, or around seven dwellings per acre for the site as a whole (including all public open space and landscape areas).
"We believe a development of this scale strikes a good balance by making efficient use of the developed areas, providing ample space for green infrastructure and respecting the spatial characteristics of the existing village."
The developer said access to the estate would come from Keyte Gardens, so no works would be needed on the main road.
In Deeley's proposal it says it wants to create 16 more parking spaces for the school, and provide a new entrance to the rear of the site.
"Deeley Homes is pleased to present our proposals to develop the land East of Alcester Road for 29 new homes," the proposal said.
"The parish council completed a Housing Needs Survey in 2022 which identified a requirement for 29 new homes in the village for people with a local connection to Wootton Wawen.
"One of the main aims of the parish council in the neighbourhood plan is to decrease the average age of residents within the village to support the vitality of the Wootton Wawen Primary School."
Deeley's proposals state 14 of the new homes would only be available to families with children of primary school age or younger.
The remaining 15 would only be available to people with a "local connection".
Both restrictions are expected to lower the market value of the homes.
"Alongside the new homes, we are also proposing to deliver significant community infrastructure for the benefit of the whole village, including a new equipped play-area connected to the existing Parish facilities and speed reduction measures on the approach to the village," the proposals added.
"We are also discussing improvements for the Primary School, including a drop-off/collection area to alleviate traffic in the village centre which will also be used as overflow staff parking, and a new pedestrianised access into the school."
A second consultation on the scheme is expected to come forward later this month.
