Kenilworth planning roundup: Traveller site, HS2 and new homes

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Traveller Site

Plans to redevelop a Travellers site near Coventry Airport have been tweaked after a major sewage pipe was found.

A bid to vary the conditions of the project at Siskin Drive got the green light from council planners this week (27 February).

"Essential" changes to the site's layout are being made because of the mains sewer pipe which had not previously been identified, a council officer's report said.

HS2's New Tunnel

HS2 has welcomed the sign off for the designs for its 'cut and cover' tunnel at Burton Green.

The plans for the southern end of the structure had already been approved by Warwick District Council, where the railway will travel in a 400-metre green tunnel.

And now Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council has approved the plans for the northern section of the structure, where the railway exits the tunnel in a 1.4 kilometre cutting with retained walls.

Homes Under Construction

Fantastic footage has shown off the progress on a new 99-house development currently under construction in Kenilworth.

The clips have been shared by Miller Homes, the developer behind Southcrest Rise off Glasshouse Lane.

The site, which was given planning permission in August 2022, is due to be fully finished by March next year
