'Shock' Student Flats

Coventry residents were left in "absolute shock" after plans for a massive student development got approval without being voted on by councillors.

Blocks providing more than 1,000 student beds, plus co-living and commercial space, will replace former Barclays offices and a car park in Westwood Business Park.

The huge scheme got the green light from council officers last month as less than six people had objected and it wasn't called in to the planning committee.

220 Homes

Plans to build hundreds of homes on the current site of Kenilworth Rugby Club have been revealed.

Bloor Homes has launched a pre-application consultation for a scheme that could see 220 new homes built across two parcels of land off Glasshouse Lane.

If approved, the sites would join onto a 550-house development which has already been given the green light by Warwick District Council.

Barn Blocked

An appeal against a decision not to allow a Dalehouse Lane barn to be extended has been thrown out by a planning inspector.

The original refusal by Warwick District Council was branded "ridiculous" after councillors said the barn - which sits just 50 metres from the HS2 line - would be spoiled by the works.

Councillors were split over the decision for Hope Barn last May but ultimately voted to prevent the building being altered.
