Kenilworth planning roundup: HS2 cutting, banking hub and 970 homes

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
HS2 Cutting
Council planners have given the green light to the designs for another HS2 cutting around Kenilworth.
The 850-metre-long channel will carry the new rail line parallel to the Kenilworth Greenwell.
The 'Roughknowles Wood Cutting' will be 13.6 metres deep at its deepest point.
Banking Hub Progress
Works to move Kenilworth's banking hub to a permanent location have taken a step forward thanks to council planners.
Warwick District Council (WDC) has granted planning permission for a series of works at a vacant unit in Talisman Square for the facility.
The hub opened at its temporary location at Kenilworth Library in March, offering access to all the major banks through the week.
Major Estate Movement
A huge development of 970 new homes would not be in the green belt, the developer has said.
In its application to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SBMC), Colchurch Properties has said the massive estate between Station Road and Waste Lane is not "inappropriate".
First submitted in 2023, the application is yet to be decided on, but has received significant pushback from locals.
If approved, the application would see 970 homes, a care home/retirement accommodation, community buildings, a primary school and a pre-school built along the HS2 line.
