New Kenilworth banking hub officially opens

A new banking hub has opened in a temporary location in Kenilworth today (March 14), giving residents access to all major banks.
Cash access network LINK announced last year that Cash Access UK would be bringing a hub to town after Lloyds announced it is leaving town.
The hub has now opened in a temporary spot at Kenilworth Library, and is expected to move into a permanent spot this autumn. The location for this is yet to be revealed.
Cllr Richard Dickson - who helped campaign to bring the hub to town - said it was a "great place" for residents and hopes it will be a "great success".
The site will have representatives of different high street banks there on different days, meaning residents are not forced to travel to Leamington or Coventry to receive in-person support.
According to the Cash Access UK website, the temporary location will be open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Community bankers from Barclays and Santander will be available on Thursdays and Fridays respectively.

A Lloyds banker will be available from April 9, while a banker from HSBC will be available "on Tuesdays soon".
MP for Kenilworth and Southam Sir Jeremy Wright also welcomed the opening.
He said: "The importance of a banking hub is that if a town like Kenilworth loses all of its banks.
"And people in Kenilworth will know that Lloyds bank was the last effectively to close its doors in town.
"We still need people in this town to have access to cash and to banking facilities.
"That is what this temporary banking hub will do until we can have a permanent banking hub located in the town.
"I want to thank those who have worked so hard to make sure we have the banking hub here."
There are over 138 banking hubs in the UK already.
Lloyds announced the closure of its Warwick Road branch in 2024, saying just 511 customers visit in person on a monthly basis.
Councillors have since highlighted how this could leave some residents, charities and businesses vulnerable.
Halifax, HSBC and Barclays have all also closed their local branches. Nationwide now only operates limited hours.
