Works to move Kenilworth's banking hub to a permanent location have taken a step forward thanks to council planners.

Warwick District Council (WDC) has granted planning permission for a series of works at a vacant unit in Talisman Square for the facility.

The hub opened at its temporary location at Kenilworth Library in March, offering access to all the major banks through the week.

The hub was opened after Lloyds announced it was closing its branch in the town, with the bank shutting its doors in April.

Cash Access UK has now been given planning permission for new signs at the unit in Talisman Square which was previously occupied by Kare Plus before it relocated to Westwood House.

The application is for the "installation of new brand signage and making good external building fabric on front elevation".

This as well as for "like for like replacement of external condenser units and new vents on rear elevation".

Signing off on the application, a WDC report said: "It is considered that the proposal would not detract from the amenity of the area and would not be detrimental to public safety.

"The proposal is therefore considered to comply with the policies listed and advertisement consent should be granted."

A new banking hub has also recently opened in Warwick.

No date for a potential move to Talisman Square has been announced.
