Kenilworth planning roundup: HS2 cutting, 970 homes and concerns about restaurant
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Cutting Criticism
A local MP has maintained her objection to a 750-metre HS2 cutting to the north of Kenilworth, saying more needs to be done to reduce noise for local residents.
MP for Coventry South Zarah Sultana first objected to the designs for the Canley Brook cutting in March, stating that residents on the Coventry side of the project were not being considered.
HS2 - which initially proposed a 100-metre long, four-metre-high sound barrier on the south side of the line - has now submitted more details on how it will mitigate noise.
But the Labour MP said more needed to be done to protect locals to the north of the route.

Halted Hotel Plans
Town councillors said they have no reason to object to the latest application to redevelop a Kenilworth hotel and the house next door.
Planning permission to demolish the Peacock Hotel and the adjacent home was approved earlier this year, with the scheme set to see four houses and five apartments built.
However, a fresh proposal submitted to Warwick District Council says the demolition plans have been put on hold, with the hotel and Malaysian restaurant inside set to remain open.

Premature Plans
Parish councillors have objected to "premature" plans to build 970 new homes and a community centre in Balsall Common.
Harris Strategic Land and Colchurch Properties has applied for planning permission for the new village neighbourhood on green space between Station Road and Waste Lane.
The scheme - put forward to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) - would introduce a local centre including a care home/retirement accommodation, community buildings, a primary school and a pre-school.

Restaurant's Noise Concerns
Concerns about the impact on local residents from a potential new restaurant have been raised by Kenilworth councillors.
Plans to turn the former Shakespeare's Hospice Shop at Abbey End into a "café/bar/restaurant" have been submitted to Warwick District Council (WDC).
If approved, the scheme would see the building extended to fill the gap between the existing shopfront and the walkway to Abbey End car park.
