Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Knowle New Homes

Planners have given the go-ahead for hundreds of homes to be built on Solihull green belt in the latest blow for campaigners.

Developer Taylor Wimpey originally put forward a plan to build 200 homes on land west of Warwick Road in picturesque Knowle village in January.

The proposal went before the latest session of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council's planning committee on December 10.

Castle Crossing

More planning permission and funding will need to be secured before a new pedestrian crossing to Kenilworth Castle can be installed.

Kenilworth Town Council has been working on the new link for Castle Road for over a year as it looks to find a safe way for walkers to reach the town's main tourist attraction.

Having held a public consultation and now decided on a preferred spot for the crossing, the town council is waiting on English Heritage to progress the path which will continue from the road to the castle itself.

Cottage's New Life

Work is underway on site turning a former Kenilworth pub into offices.

Impenza Limited was granted planning permission to turn the Cottage Inn into five offices earlier this year.

The closed Stoneleigh Road inn had 12 different owners since 2009, closing multiple times in that period.
