Troubled Kenilworth pub to be turned into offices as planning permission granted

Council planners have given the green light for a troubled Kenilworth pub to be turned into offices.
Impenza Limited has been granted planning permission for the works at the Cottage Inn which will see it converted into five offices.
The Stoneleigh Road inn has had 12 different owners since 2009, closing multiple times in that period.
It has been shut for a year after its latest closure and has been on the market since.
Signing off on the application, a Warwick District Council report said: "While the loss of any community facility of this type is regrettable, particularly for patrons within the immediate locality, given that there are similar facilities accessible to the local community by means other than the car, the proposal is considered to comply [with planning policy].
It continued: "The proposed change of use and associated external alterations are considered to have an acceptable impact on the character and appearance of the streetscene and are therefore considered to be in accordance with the aforementioned policies."
Impenza said the building would be renovated and "modernised".
The company will use some of the offices and the others would be leased.
The site would be open from 8am to 6pm - creating less noise for the neighbouring homes.
The company also pointed to The Albion Tavern and the Earl Clarendon which have both closed in Kenilworth and been demolished to make way for new homes.
"During its period of closure The Cottage Inn has fallen into major disrepair and is in a dilapidated state," the application said.
It added: "It is not commercially or financially viable to repair, renovate and operate The Cottage Inn as a pub, and there are two other pubs within 100 metres of The Cottage Inn, namely The Engine and The Wyandotte."
