Here are the biggest Kenilworth planning stories from the past week.

Wetherspoon Withdraws

A planning application to turn the former Poundland shop in Kenilworth into a Wetherspoon pub has been withdrawn.

The pub giant announced in July that it would be investing £2million in the unit at The Square, with plans submitted to Warwick District Council in August.

Just weeks later Wetherspoon has pulled the proposal from consideration - but has promised that a fresh scheme will be submitted.

Hotel's Expansion

A Leek Wootton golf club hotel is set for a major extension after district planners granted permission for it to build 26 new bedrooms.

The Warwickshire Hotel and Country Club has been given the go-ahead for a two-storey extension for new rooms as well as a single-storey extension for a new breakfast room.

The hotel, which already has 56 rooms, an indoor swimming pool and sauna complex, said the expansion was needed to keep up with the demand from customers.

5G Mast Approved

Plans to build a 15-metre tall 5G mast on a residential street in Kenilworth have been refused by district planners.

CK Hutchison Networks (UK) Limited has applied to Warwick District Council for outline permission to build the pole on the pavement at the junction of Whites Row and St John's Street.

The telecommunications company said this was the best location in the town to help fill the "coverage hole" in the area.
