Kenilworth February news roundup: Station reopens, pub renovations and green bin charges

Council tax, new bin charges and safe cycling have all dominated the news in Kenilworth this February.
We have also reported on a number of heartwarming community stories, including a number of sightings of Warwickshire's white wallaby.
And trains have also returned to Kenilworth Railway Station.
Council news
Warwick District Council has announced that it will not be putting up council tax next year, whilst Warwickshire County Council will be putting up its precept.
The district council will also be introducing new green bin charges from August - these have already proved very unpopular with residents.
Plans to extend a Kenilworth care home have been rejected by planning officers because of the impact they would have on the street scene and a local listed building.
Meanwhile Kenilworth Town Council has announced it will spend £10,000 on a study to improve the safety of Warwick Road. Whilst it will also spend £27,500 converting a footbridge for dual pedestrian and cycling use.
And whilst the station has reopened again, Cllr Richard Dickson has renewed calls for dual track and mainline services.
Pubs and hospitality
A former bed and breakfast in Kenilworth was put up for sale after the owners decided to spend more time abroad to support their son's skiing career.
A major refurbishment has also been announced for The White Horse in Balsall Common. Wells & Co hope to reopen the pub in June.
A new yoga studio has opened in Kenilworth, in the basement of the Bank Gallery.
And the Ale Rooms has announced that it wants to expand its community outreach, having just finished a refurbishment.
Community news
Kenilworth Nursery School has received its fifth consecutive outstanding rating from Ofsted.
Sadly, a lime tree in Abbey Fields was felled during Storm Eunice.
Two Kenilworth teenagers have put pressure on WCC to ensure there is safe cycling provision to the new school. Whilst council leader Cllr Izzi Seccombe said it could be another four years until the K2L cycleway is complete.
A community picnic has been announced as part of the Queen's jubilee celebrations.
And Anytime Fitness has offered a free membership to local resident Tom Griffith as he prepares for the London Marathon.
