Local businesses on Castle Hill will be coming together next weekend to help celebrate the coronation.

The first ever Castle Hill Fest will get underway to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III on Monday 8 May 2023.

Running from 10am until 5pm, businesses on the street - including Time for Tea, Morning Sunshine, Harringtons on the Hill and The Clarendon Arms - are taking part, with food and drink, music, activities and fun fair rides on offer.

Organiser Owen Prosser-Stock told Nub News: "I decided to put on this event as I took over Time for Tea in August last year and always planed for road closures and event to be put on, so I thought what a great event to start with the King's coronation 'a once in a life time event' for some!"

Castle Hill Fest is one of a number of events running over the coronation weekend.

The King will be crowned, alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort, on Saturday, 6 May - with the event is set to be broadcast live at the castle.

The following day (Sunday, May 7) pupils from Crackley Hall, Priorsfield and St. John's, together with community choir Pop Voices, will perform at the town's main tourist attraction from 11am.

There will also be screenings of films at the castle over the weekend.
