Interviews have begun to find a new housing developer to help unlock Kenilworth Rugby Football Club's move across town.

The search for a new partner began after Bloor Homes confirmed it was withdrawing from the process earlier this year.

The developer was due to purchase the existing Glasshouse Lane sites and turn them into new homes, to help finance the club's move to Warwick Road, which has already been granted planning permission.

Last month the club confirmed it was working at pace to find a new partner to move the project forward.

And an update shared on Friday by KRFC chair Paul Fountaine said further progress had been made.

"While this initial process has taken longer than all had hoped, it has allowed us to narrow the field and undertake a first series of interviews with the highest compliant bidders," the update said.

"This note is to inform members further interviews (and commercial analysis) are ongoing with those developers presenting the strongest of cases to the club.

"While this process is not to be rushed, barring unforeseen circumstances our aim remains to commence the presentation of findings to the membership during September, to keep the project moving.

"So, a short interim update to keep everyone informed of progress, and we very much hope to be reporting more formally soon."

Bloor's planning application to Warwick District Council for the 200 homes off Glasshouse Lane has not been withdrawn from consideration.
