Local housebuilder Crest Nicholson will have to pay £6.8 million to improve highways, build sports facilities, increase school places and enhance biodiversity in the local area around its development at Westwood Heath.

In 2018 planning permission was granted for 425 new houses and a shop on Westwood Heath Road.

While construction on the new estate is well underway - with many of the first phase of homes now occupied - work on the supermarket is yet to begin.

Alongside new homes there, the funds will see the creation of new amenities, cycle lanes, allotments, play spaces and 25 acres of public open spaces.

Vanessa MacNee, sales and marketing director for Crest Nicholson Midlands said: "Westwood Park is a great example of Crest Nicholson's commitment to not only building high-quality homes but creating a lasting, positive impact on the local community and environment.

"With a selection of brand new three and four bedroom homes available, and schemes like Part Exchange and Smooth designed to help make your move easier, now is the perfect time to come and join this flourishing community."

Prices start at Westwood Park from £380,000 for a three bedroom, and £450,000 for a four bedroom home.

The news comes just weeks after William Davis Homes bought the land next to the site to turn into 70 homes.
