Fresh plans for a supermarket at a new housing estate off Westwood Heath Road have been put forward to Warwick District Council.
Outline planning permission for the shop was granted in 2018 alongside a scheme for 425 new houses.
While construction on the new estate is well underway - with many of the first phase of homes now occupied - work on the supermarket is yet to begin.
And now HDD Westwood Limited has submitted a fresh application to the council, asking to change the design of the shop.
"The layout has improved the efficiency of the site and addresses the site's topography by creating a gentle slope down to the maintenance path around the building," the application said.
"This increases the landscaping and the potential for biodiversity on site whilst moving the building further from the residential area to the west."
Plans show the 0.26 hectare site would have a 4200sqft convenience store built, with 17 car parking spaces including one EV charging spot.
Access would come from Bockendon Road, while a separate cycle path is also included, as well as four covered bike racks.
An ATM will also be provided on site.
"The convenience store uses modern sleek materials to provide a contemporary appearance that distinguishes itself from the surrounding residential properties," the application added.
"The massing which uses a mono-pitched roof contributes to the contemporary appearance."
While the application does not state which business will operate the store, Sainsbury's has recently been granted an alcohol licence for the site by the council and is therefore expected to run the shop.
Sainsbury's did not respond to Nub News' request for comment.
The news comes just weeks after William Davis Homes bought the land around the new shop to turn into 70 homes.
