Decision expected on plans for 224 houses on former Kenilworth School site

A decision on controversial plans to turn the former Kenilworth School site on Leyes Lane into houses is expected next week.
Council planners have said the scheme for 224 houses and a 75-bed care home should be approved, despite the objections of 69 locals.
Homes England has submitted the application, having bought the site from Warwick District Council this year and already secured permission to flatten the old buildings.
Concerns from residents include the impact on traffic, massing and also claims local infrastructure cannot cope with more homes.
The application will be discussed at next Tuesday's (June 16) district council planning committee meeting.
A report recommending planning permission be granted said: "The indicative masterplan demonstrates that the scheme retains existing green features and is capable of delivering a high-quality environment with accessible sustainable transport links to the surrounding areas together with areas of open space that meet the requirements set out within the Open Space SPD [planning document].
"Technical matters relating to highway safety and the mitigation of increased demand on the highway network have been satisfactorily addressed and these works are to be secured through contributions within the section 106 agreement [a legal agreement between the developers and the council].
"The site-specific matters can be controlled by planning condition.
"All other technical matters have been considered acceptable and can be secured through the use of appropriate conditions."
This application is for outline permission, meaning a detailed 'reserved matters' application will be needed before the homes are built.
