A 'youth market' scheme is being backed in Kenilworth after an initial trial elsewhere in Warwickshire.

A pilot teenage market programme is being led for a year by Warwickshire County Council, with successful events already being held in Nuneaton and Bedworth, Rugby and North Warwickshire.

The scheme is set to come to Abbey Fields in July to run alongside the Kenilworth Food & Drink Festival.

If it is a success, a second market could be held in the town later in the year.

The market could see up to 20 stalls and the costs are met by the county council.

theteenagemarket.co.uk is a national programme which began in Stockport and aims to help youngsters demonstrate their entrepreneurial talents.

Kenilworth Food & Drink Festival will be held in Abbey Fields on Sunday 26 July from 11am to 5pm.
