A culinary masterclass was served up to visitors at the opening of a new show home in Kenilworth.

Trevor Blake, regional head chef for Peach Pubs - which runs The Almanack in Kenilworth – showed how to cook the perfect brunch at the opening of Miller Homes' new show home at Southcrest Rise, Glasshouse Lane.

Trevor demonstrated how to whip up the perfect poached eggs with Hollandaise sauce in the kitchen of the five-bedroom show home at Southcrest Rise, where 99 new homes are being built.

Visitors were also offered a taste of The Almanack's delicious brownies, plus drinks and nibbles, while they looked around the show home.

Trevor said: "I had a great time demonstrating how to cook the perfect brunch.

"While I'm used to putting my culinary skills to work in a professional kitchen, the island space in the show home kitchen was ideal for the demo, and visitors were really interested in learning the knack of poaching eggs so they're just right."

Alastair Parsons, area sales director for Miller Homes Midlands, said: "Our visitors were interested to learn the tricks of the trade from Trevor to help them recreate a chef-cooked brunch at home.

"The cooking demo was the perfect way to show the space available in the show home kitchen – it's an ideal room for cooking a leisurely weekend breakfast in.

"The new show home has been expertly decorated and styled throughout by our team of interior designers, and we're delighted with the results - so it was great to open the doors to visitors and show them around."

The first residents are set to move into their homes at Southcrest Rise this summer. Visitors can now look around the new show home daily between 10.30am and 5.30pm.

As part of the development, Miller Homes will be contributing more than £2 million to the local area.

The money will be spent on education, transport and sporting facilities, with more than £980,000 to go towards early years, primary and secondary education and £176,721 set to go towards creating a new community centre.
