Kenilworth Wardens' manager has said his side have hit their best form of the season just in time for Friday's Bedworth Nursing Cup final against RS Sports.
Wardens have lost just one of their last 12 games, scoring 52 in the process and keeping six clean sheets.
The Kenilworth side will need to continue those performances into Friday's match the Bedworth Oval, having lost twice and drawn to RS already this season.
"For the first time this season I feel like we have a team that can actually compete with them," said manager Eamonn Richards.
"Previously we have always had a makeshift defence – in all three of the previous games.
"The last ten weeks we have improved. We have been keeping clean sheets, controlling games and scoring for fun.
"So this is the best form we have been in than at any point of the year."
RS have already claimed the Coventry Alliance Division One title, having lost just twice all season.
Wardens, who currently sit in second place, will still need more points to guarantee promotion to the Premiership.
And whilst his side will face stiff opposition in Bedworth on Friday, Richards said the message to his players would be a simple one.
"Obviously RS Sports are the best team in our league, they won the league and it looks like we will finish second," he added.
"But the principles we have are that we are organised, disciplined, we work hard and communicate with each other. That doesn't matter if you are in a cup final or not, it is the core of what we do each week.
"And I'll be asking players to be brave on the ball - its normally the team that are the calmest and want to play the best football that win the cup final."
Despite having enjoyed three back to back promotions since the club reformed four years ago, Wardens only piece of silverware to date came in May 2019 when they shocked Premiership side Bedworth Rangers 4-0 to lift the Benevolent Cup.
Whilst many of the players that featured that day will be involved this Friday, Richards hopes the support they received back three years ago will be replicated this weekend.
"It makes a massive difference to have people there supporting," he said.
"Looking back to three years ago we were massive underdogs but the crowd gave us such momentum. After we scored the first goal we then had 100 people screaming from the side of the pitch and that filled you with confidence.
"The players would really like as many fans as possible to come down, cheers us on and hopefully see us winning. It will be a good game as well, so should be worth the trip over to Bedworth!"
Head to the Bedworth Oval on Friday, April 15 for the 7.30pm kick off. Tickets on the gate for £4.
