Wardens made it three wins in a row and moved up to fifth in the league after coming from behind to win against Jet Blades, securing the place in the division for next season.
Blades started the brighter of the two sides and rightly took the lead of 25 minutes when some excellent build up play led to a close range finish bundled over the line.
They continued to dominate play and were unfortunate not to add to their advantage on 35 minutes when a one-on-one was put narrowly wide.
Wardens were poor in the first half but came close to equalising when an Eamonn Richards corner was narrowly headed wide by Alex Cockburn.
On the stroke of half time Kenilworth felt they should have won a penalty for a foul of Dan Twigger from a challenge from behind as he was played clean through but the referee was unmoved.
Wardens improved after the break and got back on level terms on 55 minutes.
Again a corner from Richards was met by the towering header of the impressive Cockburn, whose finish crept into the corner of the net, for Richards' ninth assist of the season and Cockburn's second goal.
The game continued to played with little quality and looked to be playing out for a draw until on the 70th minute routine long throw in from Alex Waters was flicked on by Twigger straight into the corner of the net.
Blades pushed for an equaliser however wardens defence was excellent in stopping the constant pressure of the attacks.
Tom Day was forced into two good saves, the best on 85 minutes was a shot which went through several legs before Day smartly saved in the bottom corner. Wardens held on for the 2-1 win in the forgettable game.
"That was an awful game of football," Richards said after the full time whistle.
"We were terrible first half and much better but not great in the second. We made some minor tactical changes in the second which made a huge difference but if I was Blades I'd be livid they didn't get at least a draw.
"I think it's a good time to reflect on how we've improved over the year. After eight games we were rock bottom with one win and four points.
"Last eight games we've won five, taken 16 points and up to fifth.
"That was the first game we've won when we've conceded first and first game we've won without Alex Bradley playing. Earlier in the year we'd have lost that game but we found a way to win. The individual and team improvement has been impressive and drastic.
"We've got two league games and a cup final left and we're now looking up to see how high we can finish for the first time this year."
