Kenilworth Wardens hit six as they battered Stockingtford RS for their first home win of the season.

Harrison Wright and Oliver Flynn each bagged a brace with goals with James Clay and Dylan Wright completing the result.

Wardens started the better of the two sides and took the lead on 10 minutes. Eamonn Richards, Adam Hnat and Jack Boden exchanged passes before the ball reached Clay. Clay released Sol Bloomer down the left, to beat his man before crossing back to the free Clay who headed in for his second goal of the season.

Stockingford pushed for an equalizer and thought they had found it only for the goal to be disallowed for an offside decision.

On 25 minutes Stockingford did draw level. A counter attack from a corner was played into Cyrus Small who rode a challenge before turning home the rebound after his initial shot was saved by Tom Day.

That set the game into an end-to-end affair with Day twice having to save one-on-one and Harrison Wright coming close on three separate occasions.

Jack Boden came closest to taking the lead on 35 minutes with an incredible solo effort as he beat five players before seeing his powerful shot well saved.

The hosts would finally retake the lead just before the break. On 44 minutes captain James Butler won the ball back and played the ball to Clay. Clay drove down the pitch and played to Boden inside the box, who crossed to Wright who got across his man to tap in from three yards out.

Wardens immediately added to their lead straight after half time. Neat passing played saw Bloomer superbly release Wright in behind to drive forward and comfortably beat the keeper for his second goal of the game.

Harrison Wright was replaced by Dylan Wright up front who immediately added to the scoreline. Bloomer again crossed from the left and Dylan got across his man to hit home across the keeper for his first goal for the club and Bloomers third assist of the game.

The game opened up with Wardens looking likely to score with every attack while Stockingford's attacks were being routinely stopped by the excellent Alex Bradley and Alex Cockburn at centre back.

Dylan came close on three occasions and George Ferridge came close from a great move down the right.

Wardens did add to their lead again on 75 minutes.

Ferridge drove down the left and crossed to Clay who saw his shot block but reacted quickly to lay the ball off to Flynn to whip the ball into the top corner for his first Wardens goal.

With five minutes left Flynn won a free kick on the edge of the box and whipped the free kick into the bottom corner for his second of the game.

Speaking after the game, player-manager Eamonn Richards said: "We could have played better in both halves. However we played some excellent football at times today.

"We've struggled for goals so far this season and we haven't had the reward for the performances we've put in. So it's really refreshing to score six and win comfortably.

"Great to see Harrison score twice in the striker position and to see Oli and Dylan get off the mark. As well as Alex Waters being back in the squad.

"Especially great to see Sol contributing to goals, who was excellent today. We've been overly reliant on Jack (Boden) for output so to see Sol, Clay, Harrison, Flynn and Dylan step up today was really great to see.

"We've got two tough cup games coming up and will need to keep improving to get results, but overall really positive day."
