Kenilworth Wardens hosted Jaguar Daimler in the Bermuda Cup on a sunny Saturday.

Wardens were favourites to win, being second in division one, and Jag sitting mid-table in division two.

The game started off mostly in the middle of the pitch with the state of the surface, the sun and the wind preventing either team from playing free-flowing football.

Wardens first chance came 25 minutes in. Toby Wells beat his man on the right and put a teasing cross towards Twigger, who at full stretch couldn't direct his effort on target.

Wells nearly scored three minutes later when he headed an Eamonn Richards corner towards the top corner only for it to be headed off the line by the Daimler defender.

Guy Pearson had a couple of shots which tested the keeper. However at half time the score remained 0-0, with the visitors having no shots in the game and Wardens only a few more.

Daimler pressed high at the start of the second half, creating a chance when a shot was routinely saved by Andy Whitehouse - their one and only shot on target of the game.

Wardens struggled to create clear chances still but Brewitt went close from a Richards corner and Pearson and Wells both had shots blocked.

On 65 minutes however Wardens broke the deadlock. A Roger Kingston throw in was taken by Twigger, who ran to the byline and crossed to the front post, where Wells had run across his marker for a simple finish from 2 yards.

Wardens then brought on Adam Hnat and Joe Farez for their first team debuts - both had an immediate impact on the game. Hnat began to show the quality Wardens had lacked, breaking thought midfield and beating players.

On 70 minutes he beat two players before passing to Farez who played the ball to debutant captain Pearson to cut across two players and fire in a shot from 20 yards making it 2-0.

On 75 minutes Richards won the ball deep in Wardens' half and passed to Farez on the halfway line. Farez beat his first man with the drop of the shoulder leaving Wardens three on one.

Farez squared to Pearson who passed into the net.

Wardens made it 4-0 only seconds later.

The impressive Josh Loan-Clarke won the ball from kick off, ran past three players before playing to Pearson who stroked his hat trick and 20th goal of the year home from 18 yards out.

"Considering only five out of the 14 players today have made more than 10 appearances for me and three players made debuts really happy with the clean sheet and the win," Richards said after the game.

"Quality wise it was a day to forget, but we defended well, worked hard, were disciplined, organisation and had the right attitudes.

"Defensively Oldham and Brewitt were flawless, going forward Wells scored the important goal, Twigger set it up, Farez made his debutant getting two assists and Pearson was brilliant as captain today, getting his fully deserved hat trick."
