Kenilworth Wardens Reserves looking to repay the favour against Witnash Town this weekend

Kenilworth Wardens Reserves will play their first home game of the season tomorrow as they seek both a first win of the season, and revenge against Witnash Town.

Witnash hosted the Reserves on September 19, and came away with a 1-0 win after injury hampered the Kenilworth performance.

The visit to Witnash was sandwiched by a 1-1 draw with Coventrians on the opening day, and a 3-1 defeat to Brinklow last time out.

With no wins yet recorded, Kenilworth Wardens Reserves currently sit on one point, propping up the Coventry Alliance Division Three table. Having just been promoted to the division, the Reserves will be keen to starting pickup up points in order to avoid slipping straight back down.

Witnash are perhaps at the other end of the spectrum, having been relegated from Division Two at the end of last season, they are looking to bounce straight back. In fact their 2019/20 season saw them pick up just two victories, and even saw them lose 6-0 to Kenilworth Wardens' Firsts. A game in which Tom Griffith grabbed a brace.

Witnash have looked strong thus far, winning twice and drawing once thus far, they currently sit fourth in the league.

That being said, last time out they shipped three against Crick Athletic, and given that the Reserves did create chances against them back in September, Kenilworth will be confident that a result is definitely on the cards this weekend.

Speaking to Nub News ahead of the match, manager Ash Clarke said "the lads are really keen to make up for the late goal we conceded the last time that we faced Witnash.

"We have a stronger squad this time around, and hopefully we will take our chances this week. A win would really give us that confidence boost we need to start competing in this league."

The game kicks off at 2.15pm on Saturday at Kenilworth Wardens Community Sports Club.
