Kenilworth Sporting's unbeaten run came to an end as Coventry Alvis took all three points from Gyspy Lane.

Martin Ascroft's side had last suffered a league defeat in September at the hands of Fairfield Villa.

But a brace from Tyrike Richards-Burke helped Alvis to an away win over a wasteful Kenilworth.

"I could see from the kickoff that we wasn't right," said a frustrated Ascroft.

"Consistency is a huge ask at any level of football and for 15 games previously we have had some sort of acceptable consistency for the level we are at - unfortunately our standards were not met yesterday.

"Alvis' staff and players treated the game with the levels of performance that are needed to win games and they thoroughly deserved what they got from the game."

Alvis took an early lead when an unmarked Richards-Burke tapped in at the far post.

Whilst the hosts made chances in the first half, they failed to find convert any of their openings.

Forwards Jaynes and Harry Wilson combined well throughout and the latter was rewarded early in the second half as he finished cooly to bring Sporting level.

Wilson went very close again with a shot from distance that the Alvis keeper superbly tipped over the bar.

With the home team pushing for the winner Alvis broke with pace and for the second time in the match Richards-Burke was unmarked to tap in at the far post.

"My players have been excellent in the last 15 games and are hurting at the moment, we are as a group as we are at the stage of the season where points are so important in the final push to finish the league," Ascroft added.

"We will train next week and try and pick ourselves up for next game, hopefully it was one off and the players will look to bounce back next weekend."
