Kenilworth Sporting maintained their top spot in the Midlands League Division Three, and their 100 per cent start to the season with a 4-3 victory over Coventrians yesterday.

In their opening five games, the Kenilworth outfit had netted 16 times, and conceded just twice, keeping three clean sheets.

In fact they had only been trailing for a grand total of 20 minutes all season before yesterday's fixture.

Coventrians went into the game in fourth place, and were the only side in the league to have netted more than Sporting.

Whilst it didn't look the game was ever going to go the way of the hosts, the final result did eventually go with the form guides.

Coventrians raced into a 2-0 lead within the first half an hour. As it looked set that they would cruise to win comfortably, Tyrone Wilson pulled one back for the hosts to make the score 2-1 going into the break.

On 60 minutes Wilson was there again to slot how to bring the score level.

He was then able to complete his hat trick just one minute later to put Sporting in front for the first time in the game.

Coventrians then got what they thought was an equaliser on 85 minutes; an equaliser that fans may have thought was justified.

However, the home side showed the same guile and determination that they have all season. Tom Sharpe managed to double his goal tally for the season and netted in extra time to ensure that all three points stayed at Gypsy Lane.

The three points leaves Kenilworth Sporting top of the table with eighteen points from eighteen. Enville Athletic are then third on 16 points (having played one more game). Inkberrow sit in third place on 12 points with two games in hand.

Next weekend Kenilworth Sporting will travel away to play seventh placed Upton Town
