Debutant Jack Low's second half goal was enough to secure Kenilworth Sporting all three points from fellow Warwickshire side Alcester.

Described by Sporting manager Martin Ascroft as "a game of two halves" Kenilworth had dominated the first half and took a 1-0 lead into the break courtesy of Dave Ghebe's 25th minute strike.

Neat approach play moved the ball out to the left edge of the box for the Kenilworth man to hit an unstoppable strike into the bottom left corner for his second goal in two games.

But the second half saw hosts Alcester pile on the pressure whilst Kenilworth couldn't find their rhythm from the opening 45.

On 60 minutes Alcester had their reward as Sporting keeper Woodward was judged to have brought down the host's striker from a free kick into the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

The penalty was neatly tucked away and the score levelled.

Despite the setback Kenilworth still felt they could get something from the game, and fresh legs from the bench in Low, Willis and Wurie seemed to bring the game back under the visitor's control.

With 15 minutes left debutant Low powered past the two Alcester centre halves and slotted the ball home.

Wills then had a chance to put the game to bed on 85 minutes but his shot was well saved by the Alcester keeper.

Ascroft said after the game: "Alcester are very good side, with some very good experienced players, we are delighted to come away with the win.

"I am delighted for Jack Low getting the winner on his debut for the club."

Sporting now sit fifth in the Midland Football League Division Two and will host Barnt Green Spartak in their next league fixture.
