Rain spoils Saturday's cricket as only KCC's third XI get a result

Only Kenilworth CC's third XI managed to get a result this Saturday as they beat Southam by 10 wickets, whilst the other two sides saw their games abandoned due to the weather.

Southam (101 all out) lost to Kenilworth's third XI (57 for none) by 10 wickets as the KCC side chased a reduced total due to the weather.

Having bowled out Southam for 101 with only their opener (52) showing any form with the bat, Kenilworth had a healthy tally to chase.

Ed Smith starred with the ball for KCC to claim a fine three for 18 from his nine overs, whilst Will Thompson took three for 18 from.

There were wickets a piece for Matt Dadswell, James Adamson and James Sparks. A run out accounted for the other wicket to fall courtesy of keeper Vee Joshi who also took two catches behind the stumps.

Between the two innings there was a delay due to the rain. When it subsided, Kenilworth were set a revised target of 52 from 20 overs.

Their openers Dhruv Vyas and youngster Yash Joshi saw the side safely to victory as they reached 57-0 with four overs in hand.

Joshi blasting the winning ball for six as he ended unbeaten on 25 not out.

Vyas added an unbeaten 26 on a day that belonged to the ground staff and their efforts for allowing the game to be concluded.

Elsewhere KCC's first XI only managed to play 17 overs of their Warwickshire County Cricket League Division One fixture before the match was abandoned due to rain.

Kenilworth had been on 48 for two with opener Joe Atkinson (23) not out when play was ended. Both sides picked up four points each.

The second XI were facing Nether Whitacre in a match that was abandoned after 37 overs. Both sides picked up five points each
