Kenilworth CC's first XI hosted Smethwick CC second XI on Saturday at Warwick Road. The home side winning the toss and electing to bowl first.

Smethwick, after a slow start, managed 128 all out in the 46th over.

Useful knocks from Ahmed and Khan in the middle order, contributing 22 and 33 respectively, took Smethwick to a competitive score after being four down for 24 early on.

Every Kenilworth bowler took a wicket, with Cope, Casey, Rhodes and Skinner all taking one a piece. Waj Chohan and Connor Shingler coming away with two each. Kenilworth's outstanding bowler was Atkinson, taking a frugal two for 11 off his eight overs.

In reply, Kenilworth could only manage 82 all out in the 38th over.

Highest scorer for Kenilworth was Shingler, grinding out a 29 not out as wickets fell regularly with only one other batsman reaching double figures. For the visitors Ahsan Khan took one and Ali and Ahmad took two each.

With five-fer off his ten overs for 18 runs was Kamran Khan.

Kenilworth take four points from the game and sit fifth in Division two on 28 points.

Sunday XI

The Sunday side hosted Earlswood in a friendly, the home side winning the toss and electing to bat.

Kenilworth's top order could only muster 14 runs from the top five, leaving them 30 for eight at one stage.

However, to drag Kenilworth to their eventual score of 129 for 9 off 40 overs, was newly discovered all rounder Tom Skinner, scoring a career high score of 43 not out.

Partnered mainly by colt Ben Kelley who also played extremely well, contributing 23 in a tricky situation.

For the visitors, the wickets were spread evenly between four of their eight bowlers used. Hussain, Beasley and Ricketts taking two and Troy Takavesi the pick of the bowlers with two for just 12.

Earlswood chased down the total seven wickets down with seven overs to spare, Matt Fitzgerald scoring the majority of the runs, contributing 81, the only Earlswood batter to get to double figures.

For Kenilworth, the pick of the bowlers was Ben Kelley with two for 16, going at slightly more than two an over. Soren Wasley and Skinner both took two a piece and Matt Casey took one for six off six overs.
