A fine 87 from George Baines saw Kenilworth Cricket Club claim a 53-run victory over neighbours Leamington in the WCCL Division One this Saturday.
Kenilworth had originally posted 267-5 from their 50 overs, but the rain-affected match saw hosts Leamington chase a revised DLS target of 227.
However the hosts would only reach 173-7 from their 43 overs.
Baines shared in a second wicket partnership of 85 with opener Joe Atkinson who made 63. Baines and skipper Connor Shingler (37) then added a further 83 runs for the third wicket before Stuart Cope blasted a quickfire 38 from just 12 balls.
Five Leamington bowlers picked up a wicket each.
In reply, the hosts soon found themselves on 17-3 and then on 63-5 after Nick Couzens made 32.
Daniel Williams went on to make 67 not out and Lee Credgington an unbeaten 28 as the pair added 68 together.
The game was brought to a close with Leamington having to settle on 173-7 and some way off their revised target.
Matt Casey toook 2-21 and Cope 2-28 for Kenilworth, whilst Atkinson, Kapil Dubey and Jack Howard picked up a wicket each.
Kenilworth 2nd. XI v. Stockton Stars
Stockton Stars lost to Kenilworth by three wickets in the final over of their WCCL Division Seven East clash this Saturday.
Kenilworth (184-7) chased down Stockton Stars' score of 183-9 with four balls remaining as Shyaan Imam made 42, Josh Charlwood 30, Dan Horner 29 and Dave Smithson 20.
Stockton had originally slumped to 32-5 after just 13 overs. They did however rally thanks to a seventh wicket 98-run partnership between Shubh (60) and Ubhey (33) whilst Braj added an unbeaten 31 at the end of the innings.
Dave Gamble took a fine and frugal 4-16 from his 10 overs for the Kenilworth side and Jono Sparks 2-39 from his spell whilst Pat Howard, Charlie Steanks and Sam Leach each claimed a wicket each.
Despite the efforts of Stockton's Vibhu with 3-45 and Narvarkar 2-29, Kenilworth managed to scrape past the winning post and record their fifth victory of the season that sees them consolidate fourth spot in the division, just 12 points behind the leaders.
