Kenilworth Cricket Club Saturday fixtures saw all three of their sides in action.

KCC returned to the crease following a three days of matches across the bank holiday last weekend which yielded only one win.

Yesterday the firsts and seconds both took on sides from Standard, whilst the thirds were in action against Earlswood.

Kenilworth Cricket Club 1st. XI v. Standard

Standard 146-10 (41.5 overs) 20 points beat Kenilworth 111-10 (36.5 overs) 5 points by 35 runs in their WCCL South East Group A match yesterday.

Kenilworth had a disastrous batting collapse as they lost their last five wickets in 11 balls whilst adding only 1 run.

As a result they slumped to a 35 run defeat despite having been on course to reach the Standard total of 146.

Standard's Tom Kidd ripped through the tail end, taking four wickets in five balls – three in a one part-over which suddenly ended the game in the 37th.

Standard themselves had been bowled out in the 42nd over as Kenilworth's Joe Atkinson took a career best 5-15 from his 9 overs – his first ever 5 wicket haul.

Darius Potten-Ravenshad was 2-24 and there was a wicket each for Steve Rhodes and Jack Howard in a solid bowling display that saw Standard lose their last seven wickets for 26 runs after opener Ryan Leybourne had made 52 and Kidd 33 with the bat.

Chasing, Kenilworth reached 94-4 with Dan Horner unbeaten on 22, after Connor Shingler had made 20 and Tom Booker 17.

However, when Horner fell after making 29 that all changed. The wheels fell off with the re-introduction of Kidd and his amazing match-winning spell, taking 5-24 from his 6.4 overs.

Vijay Patel took 2-16, whilst Andrew Fox and Spencer Sawbridge were one a piece, but the day belonged to Kidd for his all-round performance.

Kenilworth Cricket Club 2nd. XI v. Standard

Kenilworth 142-9 (45 overs) 6 points lost to Standard 143-9 (42.5 overs) 20 points by 1 wicket in their WCCL South East Group C yesterday.

Both Kenilworth teams were to lose to Standard yesterday as the seconds fell victim to a last pair who held firm to scrape over the winning line.

After Kenilworth had earlier posted 142-9 from their 45 overs, Standard managed to edge a one-wicket win in a tense and nervy game.

Dave Edmunds was the top-scorer for Kenilworth, making 35 (3 x 4, 1 x 6), youngster Will Machin 26 and Adam Huxford 23.

Chaudhry and Javed had both taken 2-17, Leybourne 2-29 and Sam 1-35 for the hosts.

In reply, Leybourne hit 47, Earl 30, Proctor 27 and Seddan 21 for Standard to put them easy favourites.

However, a loss of four wickets for five runs changed the game, and it was left to the last pair to cling on and narrowly see the side home in the 43rd over.

This, despite Edmunds taking 4-20, Dan Roden 3-26 and Sam Leach 2-22 (and 2 outfield catches).

Kenilworth Cricket Club 3rd. XI v. Earlswood IV

Kenilworth 136-9 (40 overs) beat Earlswood 65-7 (40 overs) by 71 runs in their CHL 40 over friendly yesterday.

The thirds were the only Kenilworth side to win yesterday, as their bowlers were on fine form.

Earlswood were restricted to a meagre 65-7 from their 40 overs as KCC easily defended their score of 136-9.

Kieran Umashanker made 40, opening for Kenilworth. He hit two boundaries in his knock.

Gareth Knights reached 28 and Tom Skinner 21 of the side's total. Thorne took 4-17 and Rowland 2-52 with the other wickets shared around for Earlswood.

Earlswood then struggled against the accuracy of Kenilworth's bowling attack, finding the ball hard to get away throughout their innings.

Rowland was able to make 28 not-out, but this was the side's only score in double figures.

Matt Dadswell claimed 2-6 from eight fine overs, James Sparks 2-17, spinner Skinner 1-9 from his eight overs whilst youngsters Dan Barrie took 1-12 and Tom Best 1-20 for Kenilworth as they ran out easy victors.
