Kenilworth Wardens' first team faced Bishop Itchington's first team, in their third friendly of the preseason.
The Wardens first team had already defeated Balsall and Berkswell 1-0, and Stockton Reserves 6-2.
So they arrived full of confidence to play against the side that plays in the Banbury League.
Despite a slow start for the Wardens, they managed to create several clear-cut chances within the first 20 minutes. None of which could be converted.
On 25 minutes, a long ball forward fell to Bishop's right midfielder, who rode two tackles and toe-poked the ball from 15 yards out, finding the corner of the net.
Bishop had a further chance to score a minute later, but were thwarted by goalkeeper Andy Whitehouse who pulled off a smart save to tip over the bar for a corner.
The second half followed a similar suit, as the Wardens created and then missed more and more chances.
On 71 minutes, the Wardens pressure on the Itchington goal finally paid off.
Dan Twigger played a neat pass into the path of Ben Edmunds, who struck the ball into the corner of the net, levelling the score at 1-1.
Two minutes later, Guy Pearson played a defence-splitting pass through to Twigger, who finished calmly to make the score 2-1.
Twigger then doubled his tally for the night. Reacting faster than the Itchington keeper and his defence, he latched onto an outrageous back-heel flick from Ben Edmunds to find the net once more.
Guy Pearson finished the scoring after a 40 yard cross-field pass from right back Phil Rudd fell into his path. From 18 yards he hit the ball first time into the bottom corner.
Even though they left it late, it was a thoroughly deserved 4-1 victory for Kenilworth Wardens.
