Kenilworth Wardens Reserves got back on track after playing against the newly-formed Jet Blades Reserves in a preseason friendly today.

Despite their laboured performance against The Engine last weekend, Wardens Reserves produced a very convincing performance today, winning 5-0.

The game today was balanced for the first ten minutes, before right-midfielder Charlie Waters latched onto a loose pass across the Blades' defence and was fouled clearly.

Penalty to Wardens.

Captain James Butcher hit an unstoppable strike to make the game 1-0. This was his second goal of the preseason, having also scored against Craftsmen two weeks ago.

After 17 minutes, Wardens produced some good build-up play. Archie Evans fed Sean Povey, who flicked the ball onto Waters who had the composure to smash the ball into the top of the net, doubling Wardens' lead.

Roles were reserved after 30 minutes, when Man of the Match Waters fed the ball to Povey 30 years out. He turned and hammered the ball over the keeper's head.

Despite their clear dominance, in the second half, Wardens brought on four first-team players to give them some minutes.

One of the said first-teamers, Guy Pearson, made an immediate impact.

On 47 minutes, he robbed the ball from a Blades' centre half, beat the other and hit the ball into the top corner.

Ten minutes later, Pearson became the provider, when his through-ball reached Dan Twigger, who rounded the keeper to make the score 5-0.

Whilst Wardens continued to dominate, and produce chances, the score remained 5-0. A performance that displayed all the quality that was missing at points last weekend.

The credit for the clean sheet is due to Sam Taylor and Jamie Whitehouse who filled in the centre back positions as nine traditional central defenders were unavailable for selection.
