During the second phase of lockdown the team at the pub have been busy behind the scenes getting ready for their first Christmas in the oldest pub in Kenilworth

The famous Virgins & Castle on the old High Street in Kenilworth has been working with a young, local designer to help them bring to life the magic of Christmas of a bygone time ready for their re-opening in December.

The 16th century pub, that is part of the Everards Brewery and owned by hospitality group Caviar & Chips, had to close its doors, along with every other pub in the country, on Thursday, November 5.

Warwickshire County Council's Trading Standards Service is warning Kenilworth residents to be aware of puppy scams in the run up to Christmas.

Trading Standards Animal Health Officers have received reports of criminal gangs illegally smuggling puppies in to the UK to sell, puppies being stolen and sold on, and consumers paying thousands of pounds to bogus online sellers for puppies that don't exist.

Kenilworth Town Council has awarded nearly £75,000 through the HS2 Business and Local Economy Fund to begin a project to support local businesses through the disruption caused by the construction of the new high speed railway line.

With six out of the town's eight access roads proposed to be closed at some point in HS2's construction period, the town council wants to spread the message that 'Kenilworth is Open for Business'.

Cllr Dickson commemorates those who lost their lives eighty years ago today

Together with local author Robin Leach, Tony Collett, Rev'd Andrew Attwood and Cllr Kate Dickson, we marked today the 80th anniversary of when bombs/landmines dropped on Kenilworth killing more than 25 people.

Tony Collett, who now lives near Cambridge, is the grandson of Sarah Collett, who was killed in Kenilworth by shrapnel on 7th November 1940.

The four young Kenilworth residents each designed a different card which the Mayor will use when sending Christmas cards to local community groups, to county organisations and to the leaders of Kenilworth's twinned towns in France, Germany and Italy.

A Kenilworth firefighter has said "I definitely heard them laughing" after being assaulted on her cycle home from work on Wednesday, November 11.

Alison Insley has been an on-call firefighter at Kenilworth Fire Station for nearly five years. On her cycle back from a call in Leamington on Wednesday night, at around 8.45pm, a car drove past her at speed on the Kenilworth Road and threw what appeared to be white paint at her.
