Work to bring the playing fields back into use at a Kenilworth primary school are now well underway.

A new drainage system is being installed at St Nicholas C of E Primary School, after 12 months of planning for the scheme.

The scheme will mean the playing fields can be used all year round.

Providing an update for locals, Cllr Spencer posted on social media: "As an ex-pupil of St Nicholas C Of E Primary School, I was rather dismayed to find that its sports field had become unusable due to poor drainage when I was invited by the head teacher to take a look last year.

"After 12 months in the planning, a drainage scheme is currently being implemented…hence the reason why you might have noticed the heavy machinery arriving on site.

"I look forward to our youngsters being able to play various leisure activities on the field once again."

An end date for the works - which are being co-ordinated by Warwickshire County Council - has not been announced.

Last year the school at The Blundells unveiled a mini forest as part of a new nature hub being built at the school.
