A Kenilworth primary school has been shortlisted for a community award which would help pay for a nature hub.
The PTA at St Nicholas Primary School planted trees last Thursday to begin the mini forrest and is now in the running to win a £20,000 grant.
The school is one of 16 causes to be nominated in the Severn Trent Community Gold Award.
The winners will be decided by a public vote and the PTA is encouraging Kenilworth residents to get behind the school before the voting closes on April 24.
The nature hub is being built in an unused part of the school's playing field.
And the PTA said the grant would be used to pay for flowers, plants, micro ponds, tools and a shelter to create an outdoor classroom.
Headteacher Sarah Rayson said: "We serve a diverse community, with lots of different needs, which we think will be supported really effectively by the establishment of a nature hub to help our children connect with nature and to develop new skills."
Coventry Mercia Lions Club has also been nominated for its plans to build a community peace garden at Coventry Canal Basin.
