Wetherspoon given green light for signs for new Kenilworth pub

Pub giant Wetherspoon has been given the green light for the name signs which will adorn its new Kenilworth venue.
Warwick District Council (WDC) has signed off on planning permission for the new signs at The Square.
Plans show the windows will be etched with the name 'The Dictum of Kenilworth' alongside illuminated name signs and menu boards.
Work is well underway on the town centre pub which will open at the end of July.
The name of the new boozer has also recently caused great discussion on social media, with some locals criticising the name 'The Dictum of Kenilworth' which relates to the end of the siege of Kenilworth in 1266.
Signs - some illuminated - will also appear on the back of the venue around the beer garden, which had originally been criticised by councillors.
This will include a sign over the rear gate.
Signing off on the application for the signs, a WDC report said: "The design of the fascia signage, amenity boards and menu cases to the high street elevation are appropriate and characteristic of the site they relate to, where there is other similar signage in terms of illumination, design and scale.
"The signage is of an appropriate scale for the building and is considered of an acceptable design."
Work on the new pub began at the end of February, nearly three years after Wetherspoon announced it was coming to town.
