Kenilworth locals have a few months left to wait before the town's new Wetherspoon pub opens its doors for the first time.

Work began on site at The Square last month after a protracted planning process since the pub chain it was announced it was coming to town in 2022.

And now Wetherspoon has told Nub News 'The Dictum of Kenilworth' will open on Wednesday 30 July for the first time.

Posters installed in nearby Wetherspoon pubs had originally advertised a September opening.

The news comes after a planning application was submitted to Warwick District Council for the new signage to be installed at the new pub.

Plans show the windows will be etched with the name 'The Dictum of Kenilworth' alongside illuminated name signs and menu boards.

The name of the new boozer - which relates to the end of the siege of Kenilworth in 1266 - has also recently caused great discussion on social media.

Passers-by will have seen scaffolding erected on site as the former Poundland unit gets transformed into a pub.
