Here are all the headlines and news stories from this week in Kenilworth.

Patients at GP surgeries in Kenilworth awaiting Covid-19 vaccinations at the Warwickshire Golf Club were offered reassurance this week as South Warwickshire CCG confirmed that those who had had appointments cancelled at the end of December, would be called until new appointments were arranged.

Sad news for Kenilworth Railway Station came this week as it was confirmed by West Midlands Railway that no passenger services would stop at the station from Monday. There is yet to be any communication as to when normal service would resume.

Recycling banks in Kenilworth operated by Warwick District Council are to be removed. The decision has been taken as a number of banks across the district have been subject to vandalism and fly tipping.

Kenilworth businesses can now apply for further grants from Warwick District Council to help with closures due to the third national lockdown.

The owner of Forrest Coffee House Molly Shanahan has started a new initiative in the town this January 'The Kenilworth Kindness Campaign.' The campaign aims to spread small amounts of joy and kindness in Kenilworth this month with the key message being that a small act of kindness goes a long way.

Nominate a Kenilworth resident who has struggled or has gone the extra mile during the three national lockdowns. Warwick District Council are organising a gig 'BandStand Together' for after the pandemic, and are requesting local people nominate members of the community to have a song dedicated to them.

Opportunities to recognise the work of local Kenilworth food companies at a local awards ceremony were made available again as nominations for the Foodie Awards were extended. The award categories aim to recognise businesses and individuals who went above and beyond during the lockdowns – The Covid-19 Resilience Award backed by Visit Coventry; The Godiva Award, sponsored by Coventry BID and the Food Champion Award.

Signups for the Kenilworth Half Marathon are now open! The race will take place in September and will follow the course that was supposed to be used for the cancelled 2020 edition.

The idea of 'essential travel' was stretched to its limit as a man was issued a fine for travelling from Bedworth to Kenilworth to play Pokemon Go. Police said "We would like to remind people they must not leave or be outside their home unless they have a reasonable excuse."

Warwickshire Police are appealing for witnesses to a smashed window in Kenilworth this week. The incident took place in Arlidge Crescent on Saturday, January 9 at around 9.20pm.

A lane had to be closed on the A46 on Monday due to a massive pot hole causing damage to a number of vehicles.
