We are almost a third of the way through the year - believe it or not!

So Kenilworth Nub News is taking a look back, to highlight some of the stories you may have missed.

Here are the most read Macclesfield news stories so far, for 2024.

5. Organisers confirm new location found for Kenilworth Carnival funfair

The most recent of the stories in the top five was the fantastic community news that organisers have found a new location for the Kenilworth Carnival funfair.

A date has also been announced for the 2024 event, with final sign off from Warwick District Council and Historic England still needed.

Fears the funfair would not go ahead started earlier this year when the council said it could not be held in the usual place in Abbey Fields.

But now the carnival will head to the other side of the park this June.

Nub News has closely followed the progress of B&M coming to town, right from breaking the news that the discount retailer was taking over from Wilko.

But best-read of our coverage was our article revealing when the store would open.

It eventually opened its doors on Station Road on Thursday 7 March.

3. WATCH: Timelapse footage shows M42 bridge being demolished

We seem to have written endless numbers of articles about HS2 and bridges to be built this year.

But our best-read HS2 story of the year to date was actually of a bridge being knocked down.

In February the M42 was closed for 52 hours for a 4,000 tonne bridge to be demolished.

It is the second of two 4,000 tonne bridges in close proximity over the M42 which needed to be demolished so HS2 can build a new twin box structure, which will carry the high speed line over the motorway in the future.

More accolades have been showered on The Old Bakery in 2024, which has been named as the Warwickshire Pub of the Year by the Coventry and District branch of CAMRA.

The Old Bakery has received the 2024 title just months after once again being included in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

1. Investigation launched after Kenilworth man dies following incident at local lorry firm

The story which has had the most readers so far in 2024 is one of the saddest stories we have had to write.

In February Nub News broke the news that an investigation had been launched after a man died following an incident at a local lorry factory.

Father-of-two Richard Hopkins was taken to hospital with head injuries on the morning of Wednesday 14 February, after the incident at Dennis Eagle's Heathcote base.

Warwickshire Police said the 39-year-old from Kenilworth died in hospital, and a joint investigation is now underway with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
