Plans to install 50 solar panels at local farm submitted
Plans to install 50 solar panels at a Burton Green farm have been put forward to Warwick District Council.
If approved, the application would see five rows of panels installed at Stoneymoor Wood Farm, Hob Lane on a piece of land previously used to graze animals.
Applicants Mr and Mrs Elkins say vegetation will be encouraged to grow around the patch, to create "natural screening".
"Mr & Mrs Elkins are committed to reduce their own impact emissions by generating clean electricity with a solar panel installation and battery storage system that will be used to power the property," the application said.
"Generating the energy close to the property significantly reduces transmission losses, calculated to be less than four per cent for the project."
Electricity generated by the panels will be used to power the house, or stored in a battery system for later use.
The plans also state the solar panels will have little visual impact on the local area.
"The panels are to be all black, black frame, black cells, black tedlar and black wiring to minimise the visual impact of the installation," the application explained.
"The panels also have a coating on the glass to reduce reflections from the panel.
"The main function of the coating is to reduce the proportion of light reflected off the glass as this can not be converted into energy by the cells.
"The area immediately around the panels is to be covered in a weed-resistant matting and covered in 40mm of gravel."
