Police to clamp down on 'dangerous' parking and anti-social behaviour in Kenilworth
"Dangerous" parking and anti-social behaviour in Kenilworth will be targeted by police into the new year.
Officers have reported frequent calls to deal with youths in Castle Farm and have also received reports of vehicles driving over the pitches.
And a recent survey found nearly 40 per cent of residents wanted police to do more about parking problems in Burton Green and St John's ward.
But speaking at last night's Kenilworth Community Forum PCSO Craig Ricardo said there was only so much police could do.
"We do conduct lots of patrols to stop people parking on pavements, but yellow lines are out of our jurisdiction. The only time we get involved is with obstruction," he said.
"It is an ongoing thing in Kenilworth, but we are talking about hundreds of cars so there is not a lot that we can do."
Cllr Rik Spencer said: "There are huge issues at St John's Primary School.
"At school opening and closing times it's a shambles, it is dangerous, and I am really pleased that parking patrols have got onto your list."
Half of survey responses also identified anti-social behaviour in Castle Farm as a major issue.
PCSO Ricardo said part of the problem was due to Warwick District Council not closing the barriers on site to stop vehicles getting in, but also the scale of the issue.
He said: "You're never going to stop it at Castle Farm. Every weekend we get called, the kids scatter and we have got no chance.
"We can only monitor because there are so many places for them to get in and out."
The new priorities will be in place until March 2022.
